Why do Colonic Cleansing
The colon is a tube approximately 5 feet long and 2.5 inches in
diameter. A healthy colon has uniform size and tone. The functions of
the colon include:
- Final phase of digestion
- Elimination of digestive residue
- Discharge of toxins and wastes from your body
When your body has been in a state of toxicity (taking in and
producing more toxins than the body can naturally eliminate), the
ability to detoxify through bowel elimination is weakened. This leads to
a build up of waste materials on the colonic wall called toxic sludge.
How does this toxic sludge can affect the body?
Initially, as the colonic walls which normally absorb nutrients from
your food are ‘blocked’, your absorption rate will be severely affected.
It may cause irritation to the colon, resulting in diarrhea,
constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, fatigue, headaches, dull eyes,
poor skin, spots, aching muscles, joint pains and depression.
Over time, the build up of toxic sludge will cause the colonic wall to
lose tone and pouches called diverticula to form. Food matters get
trapped in these pouches, creating a breeding ground for bacteria. The
result can be diverticulitis, an infection where there is often a fever
and acute abdominal pain.
When toxins are allowed to remain in the body for prolonged period of
time, it is believed that the body may ‘give up’, allowing the disease
process to take over.
Colonic cleansing helps remove the layer of toxic sludge. The benefits
include:
- Enhanced liver function and detoxification
- Natural weight loss
- Reduction in digestive problems eg. bloating, gas, flatulence
- Improved lymphatic function
- Increased vitality
Colonic cleansing is not recommended though for people with
pre-existing illnesses or conditions of the colon. |
